Completed: 28. Give Seinfeld a Shot
I’m so sick and tired of Seinfeld being referenced in every conversation I’m in and not understanding the joke. I’ve been slow to attempt to watch this show, nor did I ever watch it when it first ran for a few reasons: 1. I tend to be cynical of overly-hyped things and 2. this show is completing lacking black characters. It bothers me when a show as popular as this, like “Friends” or “90210,” for example, can’t find room to feature a FEW people of color (unless they’re a sports player, some other non important roll, or after people pressure them to). Anyway, I digress.
I wanted to at least give the show a try because of Larry David. I love Larry David and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
I had no intention of watching the entire series, so I researched the best three episodes: “The Contest,” “The Subway,” and “The Opposite.” Out of the three episodes, “The Opposite” was probably my favorite. I laughed out loud a few times, but I don’t get the appeal. Jerry Seinfeld is not funny, in my opinion. The Kramer character is so stupid that words can’t even describe (it’s not a good stupid, it’s just dumb). George and Elaine are the only redeeming characters.
I gave it a try, but I’m glad I trusted my instincts on this for so long. It’s just not something I find funny.
