Eat a New Type of Food Every Month: Emu Carpaccio

I intended to eat kangaroo, but when I placed my order, the kind bartender at Oz told me they were out.

Instead, I ordered Emu Carpaccio, which is raw emu beaten to a point of thinness that melts like butter in your mouth.

It was served with greens, some mushed raisin spread, and cinnamon raisin bread on which to shovel in the raw meat.

I like the overall sweet/savory flavor of the dish. The meat was iron-y, but I guess that’s what you get with raw emu.
