February’s new food is Mofongo from Mio. I didn’t know what they were when we ordered them, but my date assured me that they were delicious and that she had them while visiting Puerto Rico, which is where this dish originates. I kind of thought they were fried manchego cheese (manchego-mofongo, I confuse words easily). However, they are not fried balls of cheese, but fried balls of plantain, meat, and spices. Very delicious.

I’m going to bet that this goal is going to be one of my most satisfying. I love food, guys.

Bolitas de mofongo are sooooo good! I’m Puerto Rican so I was raised on the stuff. I’m glad you loved them!
If there are any additional Puerto Rican foods I should enjoy for this “eat a new type of food every month” exercise, do share!
