Completed: 13. Make more eye contact with retail, service industry employees
I’m terrible at making eye contact, but especially so with people I encounter behind the counter, restaurant servers, maintenance workers, etc.
I’m thankful for their work, which is often overlooked, and I feel like my lack of eye contact undermines my appreciation. So, I made a real effort this year to look into their eyes during our brief exchanges.
This wasn’t a measurable goal, but I made a sincere effort and consider this one a win.
