Research Possibility of Acquiring British Citizenship by Descent

Completed: 3. Research Possibility of Acquiring British Citizenship by Descent

From Newcastle to America. The citizenship papers of my paternal great grandparents.
From Newcastle to America. The US citizenship papers of my paternal great grandparents, Elizabeth Walker and William Gray Walker (badass name).

My paternal grandfather was born in England and emigrated to America with his parents (above) in the ’20s. I heard a rumor that I could become a British citizen because of the location of my Grandfather’s birth, so I reached out to the British Embassy and they quickly responded.

I found out that the only way I could become a citizen by descent is if my dad had been born in England and was:

in Crown service (see paragraph 10), or

in designated service (see paragraph 11), or

in service under a European Community institution

Neither of those apply to him.

So, folks, I remain a US citizen only.  My dreams of dual nationality shattered.
