October 29th. A man, a bar, and alcohol.
If you’ve never experienced drinking alone in a bar, you should really consider it. When I was younger, I saw a bunch of movies (which I’m sure you all did as well) that had people drinking alone at the bar. I thought it was so cool. Alcohol, smoke, people, bartenders, etc. etc. All of it was awesome. I needed to do this. I had to do this.
So a guy walks into a bar (sounds like a corny joke)… that guy being me. I walk in and the bartender immediately says hi to me. Then she says what I have always dreamed a bartender would say to me, “Whatchu drinking?” I was like…”Ummm I’m not sure.” So I asked her to make me a drink. I didn’t care what it was I just wanted to drink! I know I sounded like an alcoholic at this point but I didn’t care. I was all in.
My first drink was vodka, soda with a splash of blueberry. Meh. Not that good, but drinkable. If you know me, then you know my love for fruity drinks. The second drink I had was a pomegranate-orange martini (pictured above.) That, my friends, was amazing.
During my time at the bar I spoke to several people. There were definitely “regulars” at the bar. Everyone was nice, polite and down to earth. All of this added to the experience. I’m very happy I did this.
I can definitely see myself doing this again. Goal #12 Completed!
