7834904309843095384th reason why living near DC is the best. President Lincoln spent a quarter of his presidency at this cottage as a getaway, yet somehow I had no idea this house existed until about a year ago.
What I learned/experienced:
- Arlington Cemetery was built after the cemetery on this ground got too crowded
- It’s located on the Armed Forces Retirement Home campus, which feels 1. not like anything in D.C. and furthermore 2. feels fake, like you’re on a movie set
- The tour was led by a guide and heavily integrated with technology, which I liked, but Kris thought it took away from the authenticity of the house
- We had fun at the museum
